Cytotoxicity of genipin on two photosynthetic cyanobacteria. The MTT assay was used to assess the cytotoxicity of genipin and geniposide against Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 (a) and the cytotoxicity of genipin against Microcystis sp. PCC 7806 (b). The incubation times before the addition of MTT were 48 h (a) and 72 h for (b).
