Phylogenetic trees of selected bacterial strains isolated from sponge Theonella swinhoei. The trees were constructed by comparison of an approximate 650-bp region of the 16S rRNA gene sequence using neighbor-joining analysis of a distance matrix with Kimura’s two-parameter model. Bootstrap values (expressed as percentages of 100 replications) greater than 60% are shown at branch points. The 16S rRNA sequences of Methanobacterium paludis and Thermococcus radiophilus were used as outgroups. The scale bar represents 0.05 substitutions per nucleotide position
